"Creativity is a means of bridging the divide between the conscious and the unconscious mind. The unconscious is a
vast reservoir of knowledge and experience and is always ahead of the conscious mind, hence Carl Jung’s ‘Wisdom of
the Unconscious’. An Artwork has its own distinct way of evolving. The Artist does not or should not rigidly steer
the way. Only when the work is completed does the subject reveal itself in its entirety. The Artist becomes the
instrument rather than the author of the work. ‘The position of the Artist is humble. He is essentially a conduit,’
said Mondrian. The result is the unconscious partly made conscious, a mirror into the unconscious
mind, which is why those who exhibit their work sometimes say they feel exposed.
My paintings have been called mysterious, sombre, mystical, gothic, solemn and reminiscent of isolation. Perhaps they are all of these things."
